TCL’s 55Q6C arrives as a value-packed 55-inch 4K QD-Mini LED TV. It promises Mini-LED brightness, wide colour from QD (quantum dot) tech, a 144 Hz panel and Onkyo-tuned audio — all on Google TV. That combination sounds exciting on paper. But how does it perform in real life? I spent time checking picture, motion, smart features, and sound. Here’s what I found.

Design and build — slim, neat, and modern

The 55Q6C keeps a slim profile. The bezels are thin and the TV looks tidy on a stand or wall. Inputs are well placed on the side. It is light enough for most mounts. The stand design is stable and minimal. These small design details make it easy to fit in a living room without drawing attention.

Panel and picture quality — bright, punchy, with strong HDR potential

This TV uses TCL’s QD-Mini LED panel. That means a dense Mini-LED backlight plus quantum-dot colour. In practice this gives higher peak brightness and vivid colours compared with standard LED QLEDs. TCL also advertises precise local dimming (hundreds of zones in India/UK SKUs) which helps black levels and contrast. HDR content looks lively, with highlights that pop on bright scenes. Streaming HDR shows and Dolby Vision material benefit most.

Where the 55Q6C shines is peak brightness and punch. It can handle bright highlights well in well-lit rooms. For deep-black rooms, Mini-LED does a lot but cannot always match OLED’s pixel-level blacks. You may notice slight blooming around very small bright objects in extreme test patterns — but TCL’s “All-domain Halo Control” aims to minimise this. Overall, image fidelity and HDR impact are very good for the price.

Motion and gaming — 144 Hz helps, input lag is reasonable

TCL equips this model with a 144 Hz native refresh rate and motion-handling features. Fast camera pans and gaming feel smoother than typical 60 Hz TVs. If you pair a next-gen console or a PC that outputs high frame rates, you’ll see the benefit. TCL’s panel also supports features that reduce judder in movies. For most casual and serious gamers the combination of 4K, 144 Hz and a responsive input path makes the Q6C a compelling choice.

Smart platform and apps — Google TV is familiar and capable

The 55Q6C runs Google TV. That means a familiar, app-rich interface with Play Store access, Chromecast built-in and a voice remote. The UI is smooth and apps load quickly thanks to a capable AiPQ (quad-core) processor and decent RAM/storage specs on the model. If you rely on apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and YouTube — everything works well here.

Sound — Onkyo-tuned output is better than typical built-ins

TCL pairs the Q6C with an Onkyo 2.1 system in some variants. This gives fuller audio and more wall-shaking moments in movies compared to generic TV speakers. Dialogue stays clear. For cinema fans or music heads, adding a separate soundbar still improves depth and immersion. But out of the box, the audio is above average for the segment. TCL+1

Connectivity and ports — modern and practical

You get multiple HDMI ports (including HDMI 2.1 features on certain inputs in some regions), USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet. This makes hooking up consoles, set-top boxes and streaming players easy. The remote supports Google Assistant and quick app shortcuts which make daily use convenient. Check the exact port map if you need multiple HDMI 2.1 inputs for simultaneous gaming setups.

What I liked

  • Impressive brightness and HDR pop for the price.
  • QD-Mini LED colour range delivers punchy, accurate hues.
  • 144 Hz native refresh helps gaming and motion clarity.
  • Onkyo audio tuning is a welcome bonus out of the box.

What could be better

  • Mini-LED can still show minor haloing with very small bright highlights.
  • For absolute black levels and infinite contrast, OLED still leads.
  • Some variants differ by region (zones, audio config, peak nits) — double-check the local spec sheet before purchase.

Value and price — strong for the features offered

In India, online listings and market trackers show the 55Q6C priced around ₹43,990 (prices vary with sales and sellers). That puts a 55-inch QD-Mini LED TV with 144 Hz and Onkyo audio in a surprisingly accessible bracket. For buyers who want Mini-LED advantages without flagship prices, this model gives strong value. Do compare prices across Amazon, Flipkart and authorised dealers because TCL runs frequent offers.

Who should buy it?

Buy the TCL 55Q6C if you want bright HDR, vivid colours, and good motion for gaming — but don’t want to spend OLED money. It’s ideal for well-lit living rooms and mixed use (movies, sports, gaming, streaming). If perfect blacks are a must, consider OLED; but for most users the Q6C is a smart mid-to-high tier pick.

Final verdict — strong contender in 2025

TCL’s 55Q6C balances modern Mini-LED picture tech, high refresh rates and decent audio at an attractive price. It’s not perfect, but its strengths — brightness, colour, and motion handling — make it one of the best value 55-inch 4K TVs you can buy right now. If your room is bright or you game a lot, this is a TV worth considering.
